Dean Jones is a Scottish artist based in Glasgow. His interdisciplinary practice explores the queer experience through the lens of the erotic, working across drawing, painting, textiles and installation. Jones uses the figure and erotic imagery as vehicles for storytelling, exploring intimacy, desire, vulnerability and shifting relationships of power.

His practice developed through an interest in queer representation and the ways bodies, images and personal experiences can be transformed and recontextualised. Drawing from both archival and contemporary representations of queer bodies, Jones considers the relationship between individual experience and broader histories of queer desire. His work often explores the space between the personal and collective, using erotic imagery as a means of examining identity, memory, intimacy and queer experience.

Ritualised labour and materiality are central to Jones's approach to making. Through slow and repetitive processes of drawing, painting and working with textiles, he explores touch, sensation and the physicality of the artistic process. Domestic materials and constructed environments extend these concerns into the gallery, creating spaces in which intimacy, exposure and concealment can be negotiated.

Jones completed a BA (Hons) in Fine Art at the University of Dundee before undertaking an MLitt in Contemporary Art Practice at Glasgow School of Art. His practice continues to develop through an interdisciplinary approach to image-making, material and installation, with an ongoing interest in how queer bodies and histories can be represented, reimagined and encountered in the present.
